PHOTO OF THE DAY: CHURCH SCHOOL

This is the original South Dakota Mennonite College that opened as a “church school” in 1903 when settlers associated with the Anabaptist movement felt the need for better education for older students and to bridge the gap between German and English languages.

While the college closed in 1986, Freeman Academy continues to serve students in grades 1-12. This building still stands as Music Hall.
