Marion seventh grader Faith Pekron makes an emotional phone call moments after qualifying for the state cross-country meet with a gutsy 20th-place finish at the Region 3B competition in Scotland on Oct. 16. Pekron is one of 16 local runners who will competed at Hart Ranch in Rapid City today when the SDHSAA State Cross-Country Championships get underway this afternoon. The Class B girls are set to run at 12 p.m. Mountain Time with the Class B boys slated for 1:30 p.m.
