WINTER SPORTS SEASON UNDERWAY THIS MONTH

A new era of high school basketball is dawning this month when student-athletes from Menno and Scotland take the court together as the Trappers. The first-year basketball cooperative will debut next week Tuesday, Dec. 10 when Scotland/Menno hosts Bridgewater-Emery in girls basketball action in Menno. The girls and boys will then both play in a doubleheader at Tripp-Delmont/Armour — in Tripp — Thursday, Dec. 12.

Other teams are gearing up for their start, too.

BEARCATS

The Freeman Academy/Marion girls open their season Thursday, Dec. 5 against Parker in Marion while the FAM boys will first take the court Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Centerville.

FLYERS

The Freeman Public girls open their season at home against Platte-Geddes next Tuesday, Dec. 10. The Flyers will then host Viborg-Hurley in a girls/boys doubleheader Friday, Dec. 13.

REBELS

The Marion/Freeman Rebels, meanwhile, will begin their 2024-25 wrestling season at the Kimball Tournament this Saturday, Dec. 7. The Rebels will then take part in a quadrangular hosted by Tri-Valley next Tuesday, Dec. 10.
