Adam Van Hove, 49

A celebration of life for Adam Van Hove will be held Saturday, Dec. 14 starting at 10:30 a.m., at the Freeman Community Center in Freeman, S.D. Feel free to stop by to talk to his family and reminisce with one another about our individual times with Adam. Light refreshments will be available.

Adam Van Hove, age 49, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4 due to an auto accident outside of rural Menno, S.D. Adam had a passion for all things related to his family, friends and the wellbeing of livestock, pets and crops.

Adam was born Dec. 4, 1975 to the late Merlyn and Karen (Enstrom) Van Hove in Freeman. Adam enjoyed farming alongside his father, who was an avid cattleman, owning and operating a grain and dairy operation together. He also worked for Mettler Fertilizer and later Helena for over 20 years as a Blender Operator.

Throughout Adam’s life in Turner County, he was always willing to help out and share his time and gift of gab and humor with the people and loves that mattered most to him.

Adam married Jessica Walter on Sept. 29, 2001 and from that union they were blessed with one daughter, Halle. The love and pride he had for Halle was always on display and he was proud to have co-parented her with Brian and Jessie Goehring of Menno throughout his life. Halle currently lives in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Survivors include brothers Lee Van Hove of Canistota, S.D., Jay (Hazel, nephew Maverick and niece Evelyn) Van Hove of Sioux Falls; uncles Lyle (Deb) Van Hove of Parker, S.D., Scott Van Hove of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Reed (Tammy) Van Hove of Elgin, Minn., and Floyd (Nancy) Enstrom of Cherokee, Iowa.

Surviving aunts include Ruth (Roy) Barlow of St Louis Park, Minn., Sue Buckman of Arizona, Nina Behm of Shrewsbury, Ma., Nita Wirth of Sioux Falls, Rita (Mike) Snowden of Sioux Falls, and Karen Van Hove of Las Vegas, Nevada. Close childhood cousins of note include Jonda (John) Heckel of Shakopee, Minn., Sonya Rippe of St Louis Park, Minn., Mike Van Hove of rural Parker, S.D., and Nicole and Elizabeth Barlow of Minneapolis, Minn.

Preceding him in death are parents, Merlyn and Karen Van Hove; and aunts and uncles Keith and Victoria Van Hove, Larry Van Hove, David Van Hove, Donna Towne, Karla Rollins, Jean Ellen Schrag and Ardis and Ross Walker and Sharron Riise. Also preceding him in death were aunt Cathy Van Hove, uncles Glenn Rippe, Doug Behm, Dierck Casselman, and cousin Keith Van Hove, Jr.
