FHS GIRLS, BOYS TAKE DOWN GAYVILLE-VOLIN

The Freeman Public girls and boys both won games against teams with good records, beating Gayville-Volin 53-51 and 62-29, respectively.

The Flyer girls improved to 15-4 while the Raiders dropped to 15-4.

The Flyer boys improved to 15-4 while the Raiders dropped to 11-6.

Both games were played at Freeman Public as part of a doubleheader Thursday, Feb. 20.

Four girls were in double figures for the Freeman girls: Vaida Ammann with 17, Cadence Hofer with 13, Peyton McCune with 12 and Rylee Peters with 11.

David Walter led the Freeman boys with 17 points while Christopher Aasen added 13.

Also Thursday night, the Scotland/Menno girls defeated the Freeman Academy/Marion girls at Sterling Hsll 39-28. Trinity Bietz and Ellyana Ulmer both had 12 points for the Trappers while Karley Luke led the Bearcats with 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Freeman Academy/Marion boys held off Scotland/Menno 56-55 to improve to 5-12. The Trappers fell to 3-16. Elshadia Mesfin led the Bearcats with 25 points while Kory Keppen and Izayah Ulmer were both in double figures for the Trappers — Keppen with 13 and Ulmer and 11.
