NIGHTHAWKS ELIMINATE BEARCATS IN REGION 4B ACTION

A Karly Luke three-pointer in the opening minutes helped give Freeman Academy/Marion a good start, and the Bearcats led 10-6 late in the first period, but Tripp-Delmont/Armour took the lead in the second quarter on its way to a 37-25 win on the opening night of the Region 4B Girls Basketball Tournament Monday.

The seventh-seed Nighthawks improved to 9-12 and will face second-seed Parkston Tuesday night in Parkston.

The 10th-seed Bearcats finish their season 3-17 after starting 2-0.

In other Region 4B action Monday night, No. 8 Alcester-Hudson was hosting No. 9 Irene-Wakonda with the winner moving on to face No. 1 Centerville on Tuesday.

Also Tuesday, No. 4 Freeman is scheduled to host No. 5 Gayville-Volin and No. 3 Viborg-Hurley will host No. 6 Avon.
