STATE WRESTLING: REBELS BATTLE; TSCHETTER 8TH

It may not have been the state tournament Marion/Freeman was hoping for, but the Rebels did return from Rapid City with some hardware — an eighth-place medal for Freeman freshman Easton Tschetter, his second in as many seasons. Competing at the Summit Arena at the Monument Feb. 27, 28 and March 1, Tschetter won his opening match by fall at 5:20 before dropping his quarterfinal battle by fall late. He then earned his way onto the podium on a 4-3 decision in the second round wrestleback before losing twice, both by decision, to finish eighth in the 144 lb. division. The Rebels were also represented at state by Freeman sophomore Logun Pankratz, who lost his opener, dominated his way to a technical fall in the first round wrestleback, and then dropped a tough elimination match 5-3 to the No. 5 wrestler at 126 lbs. And, wrestling at 132 lbs., Marion senior Keaton Preheim lost in the opening round, won in the wrestleback on a medical forfeit before losing an elimination match by fall.
