FLYERS HOST GAYVILLE-VOLIN TONIGHT; TRAPPERS ON THE ROAD

Region 4B and Region 5B basketball is on tap for tonight, with local teams looking to get through to the final round of play tomorrow.

In 4B action, Freeman Public will face Gayville-Volin at the FHS gym starting at 7 p.m. The Flyers go into the game as the No. 3 seed with a 16-4 record while the Raiders are No. 6 at 12-7. Freeman handled GV with ease on Feb. 20, winning 62-29. The winner of tonight’s game will play the winner of No. 2 Parkston (15-5) vs. No. 7 Alcester-Hudson (13-8) at 2 p.m. on Saturday — in Parkston if the Trojans win and in Freeman if the Cubs win.

In Region 5B, Scotland-Menno travels to Plankinton to face Mount Vernon/Plankinton. The Trappers are the No. 4 seed at 4-16 while the Titans are No. 5 with a 5-15 record. The winner will travel to No. 1-seed Hanson at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Scotland/Menno and Plankinton did not play during the regular season.
