High school baseball players from Scotland/Menno (left) and Freeman/Canistota/Marion stand at attention during the playing of the national anthem Thursday evening, April 10 at The Lily Pad in Menno. It’s early in the season for both the Trappers and the Sticks, who play under the sanction of the South Dakota High School Baseball Association, and both teams went into Thursday’s game undefeated. Freeman/Canistota/Marion came away with a 15-0 win after five innings because of the mercy rule to improve to 3-0. Scotland/Menno dropped to 3-1.

Both teams are in action Sunday; the Trappers host Garretson in Menno at 2 p.m. while the Sticks host Parker in Canistota at 5:30 p.m.
