Janet R. Parnell, 86

Janet R. Parnell, 86, went home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith. A born farm girl and South Dakotan, Janet lived with a passion for nature—especially birds, flowers, and the quiet joy of gardening. Her hands were rarely still, and her garden bloomed as beautifully as the life she built.

Janet lived by her convictions and her deep faith in God. She met life’s challenges with strength and a no-nonsense grace that inspired those around her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Parnell; her daughter, Laura Hale; her siblings Arden Glanzer, Elroy Glanzer, and LaDean Silberhorn; and her grandchildren, Rudy King, Philip Vanderkerkhoff, Claudia Rodriguez, and Charlene Meadows-Volden. Janet was also a proud great-grandmother to Karah, Gabrial, Alexandra, Tristan, Evelyn, Avery, and Viola and great-great-grandmother to Joziah, Olivia, and Sophia – each of whom brought immense joy to her later years. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Hale.

Janet’s life was one well-lived, full of love, laughter, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Viewing will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, followed by service at 2 PM. Both held at Imperial Funeral Home. 5450 Highway 78 W. Pueblo, CO. 81005

Graveside service will be at 2 PM, May 10, 2025 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church cemetery. 27844 443rd Ave, Freeman, South Dakota 57029.
