AUCH, BUSE, FOSS QUALIFY FOR STATE GOLF MEET
Freeman High School sophomore Tannen Auch qualified for his fourth Class B State Golf Tournament by finishing eighth at the Region 3B meet held at Rocky Run Golf Courise in Dell Rapids Thursday, May 22.
Auch finished with an 82 — seven strokes behind winner Kaden Burshiem of Flandreau Indian.
Freeman junior Thor Aanenson and sophomore Oliver Waltner both missed qualifying for state by a single stroke, each finishing with a 92.
Freeman Junior Gideon Rembold missed qualifying by just two strokes, posting a 93.
Also just missing the cut was Marion graduate Ashton Kesteloot, who also shot a 93, but the Freeman Academy/Marion Bearcats do have a state representative in Jada Buse, who graduated from FA last weekend. Buse finished sixth at Thursday’s Region 3B meet in Dell Rapids and will be golfing in her fourth state meet. She tied for 22nd at state last year.
Menno’s Evie Foss also qualified for state, finishing second in the Region 4B Tournament held Wednesday, May 21.
