PHOTO OF THE DAY: SUNDAY SUN
The steeple at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Freeman is pictured with the sun in the soft haze of a Sunday morning — poor air conditions caused by raging wildfires north of the United States border. According to USA Today on May 31:
The smoke is pouring in from blazes in Canada, including in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where authorities said a combination of rising temperatures, winds and low humidity has spread active fires to thousands of acres. At least 17,000 people have been forced to evacuate.
The haze is expected to continue drifting south through the day, and severe weather is in the forecast for the region Monday afternoon, with a chance of rain Tuesday and later in the week.
