POST 152 JUNIORS RALLY FOR 12-7 WIN OVER WAGNER

Oliver Waltner pitched three scoreless innings in relief and the bats finally came alive as the Post 152 Juniors rallied from an early 7-1 deficit to come away with a 13-7 win over Wagner in Wagner Tuesday night, June 10. The win moved the 79ers to 4-0 on the season.

Wagner took advantage of early pitching woes to score seven runs in the bottom of the first. All runs were unearned and came from six walks, a hit batter, two singles and a double.

But Post 152 battled back, with two runs in the third, another in the fifth, four in the sixth and five in the seventh to break the game open.

Waltner, who pitched the final three innings, earned the win, striking out five without giving up a walk. Of his 39 pitches, 29 went for strikes.

Also throwing for the 79ers were Izayah Ulmer and Riley Gall.

Logan Pankratz led the offense with a 2-for-3 showing and a pair of RBI. Riley Keppen tripled and had an RPI for Post 152, and Gall, Easton Tschetter, Jarret Andreda, Tayden Kerrigan and Waltner all singled and had an RBI.

SENIOR LEGION FALLS

Despite outhitting Wagner 10-4, the Post 172 Senior Legion team lost Tuesday night in a back-and-forth game that ended up 9-6 in favor of the home team. The 79ers led 4-1 after the first inning, the game was tied 5-5 after three and 6-6 after five before Wagner plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the game to its final score.

Riley Tschetter took the loss for the 79ers, giving up four runs, walking seven and striking out six in 2 1/3 innings pitched. Evan Scharberg and Easton Miller also took the mound.

Rocky Ammann and Bryce Sattler both tripled for Post 152 and Tschetter hit a home run; all three had two hits. Ammann collected three RBI on the night and Trent Guthmiller knocked in another.

The Post 152 Seniors fell to 1-3 on the season.

Both teams are in Tabor Wednesday night.
