Glen Wollman, 82

“Hallelujah!”

A word that echoed throughout Glen R. Wollman’s life — full of praise, faith, and joyful anticipation — was surely the word he uttered when he fell to his knees at the feet of his Lord and Savior during the evening hours of June 6, 2025. Glen, age 82, a native of Freeman, S.D., entered into the presence of Jesus Christ, whom he loved deeply and served faithfully throughout his life.

Born on May 13, 1943, in Freeman to Ervin and Marie (Stoebner) Wollman, Glen was raised with a strong sense of faith, integrity, and work ethic. He graduated from Freeman High School and went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University.

A summer job helping a local beekeeper would become a defining passion — Glen created the Honey World label while keeping bees throughout the area along the Vermillion River for almost 60 years. His favorite flower was the humble dandelion — not for its beauty, but because it is the first food for the bees each spring. His love of beekeeping was only exceeded by the love he found in his (honey) wife, Marjorie L. Kasten. They were married on June 10, 2006, and together they finished the race of life as true partners — #BetterTogether.

Glen had a deep appreciation for God’s creation. He was known to hit the brakes in excitement when driving past a field of sweet clover and was especially passionate about trees. He planted hundreds around his farm and served on the Tree City Board, helping promote Arbor Day and the beautification of Freeman.

His love for the Lord was the cornerstone of his life. A lifelong student of Dr. David Jeremiah, Glen shared his faith boldly and especially encouraged others to read and understand the Book of Revelation. He longed for all who knew him to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. His legacy can be summed up in his own words: “I always tried to do what is right.”

Glen faithfully attended Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D., where his life was honored on Saturday, June 14 Glen was laid to rest at approximately with military honors at the Freeman Cemetery.

Glen served his country with pride as a Major in the Air National Guard as an accountant for 23 years. He was active in the Freeman Lions Club, served on the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System Board of Directors, the Turner County Fair Board and the organization he was especially proud of was the National and State Beekeeper Association.  His service to both community and country reflected his generous heart and steady spirit.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marj; his children Jacqueline (Michael Murphy) Wollman of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Rochelle Wollman of Plattsburg, Mo.; Steven (Aissa McCorkle) Wollman of Anchorage, Ark.;  daughter-in-law Sara Wollman of Sioux Falls; stepson Jeremy Galles and his cherished grandchildren Annaliese, Ellianna, Josiah and Ezra Wollman. He is also survived by his brother Dennis (Carol) Wollman; brother-in-law Phil (Kay) Kasten; sister-in-law Carol (Curt) Rasmussen; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and Christ-loving friends.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Jason Galles, as well as many dear family and friends who have gone before him to be with the Lord.

Glen spent each day in joyful anticipation of the Rapture and would want you to find comfort in the promises of God’s Word, especially:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” ~ John 3:16

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
