POST 152 TAKES DOWN LENNOX BY MERCY RULE — TWICE

The Post 152 Junior Legion and Senior Legion teams won Thursday night in Freeman, both taking down Lennox by the mercy rule. The juniors won 11-1 to improve to 6-1 while the seniors won 14-2 to improve to 4-4.

In the Junior Legion game, Tannen Auch and Trey Maske both drove in four runs, with Auch going 2-for-2 and Maske going 3-for-3. Riley Keppen, Logun Pankratz and Rylen Tommeraus each collected an RBI, and Auch, Keppen and Oliver Waltner all doubled for the 79ers.

Tschetter drew the start for Post 152 and pitched two innings of hitless, scoreless ball, striking out four without giving up a walk. Of the 28 pitches he threw, 20 went for strikes.

Riley Gall pitched two innings in relief, giving up two hits and one run, while striking out two; Pankratz threw the final frame.

In Senior Legion action, Post 152 put up 14 runs in the first inning to quickly put the game out of reach. Trent Guthmiller had four RBI and Kory Keppen batted in three runs on three hits to lead the 79ers. Luke Peters had two RBI and Rocky Ammann, Riley Tscheeter, Evan Scharberg, Easton Miller and Parker Hochstein each knocked in a run.

Tannen Auch pitched a gem for Post 152, giving up three hits and one earned run in five innings pitched, walking one and striking out seven along the way. Of his 76 pitches thrown, 50 went for strikes.

Next up for the Senior Legion is two games in Vermillion — 11 a.m. vs. Colton and 1 p.m. vs. Vermillion.

The Junior Legion will play Irene-Wakonda in Menno Tuesday, June 24 at 6 p.m. while the Senior Legion will play Salem at 7:30 p.m. in Freeman that same night.

Both teams play in Scotland Wednesday, June 25 against Wagner, with the juniors starting at 6 p.m. and the seniors to follow.
