The foursome on their way to see the Wizard of Oz — Scarecrow (Charli Fickbohm), Lion (Jax Kaufman), Tin Man (Christian Ortman) and Dorothy (Mari Chlebeck VanLeur) — find themselves caught in a trap implemented by the Wicked Witch of the West (Ally Bittner) in an effort to retrieve the ruby red slippers that had been worn by her sister. The scene was part of the Freeman Area Children’s Choir’s production of “The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition” in Pioneer Hall Thursday night, June 19 — the conclusion of a two-week musical theater camp led by directors Amber Bradley and Iwona Lewter.
