PHOTO OF THE DAY: GOOD MORNING, DOVE

It’s not a Mouring Dove, rather an Eurasian Collared-Dove that is spotted on a warm Saturday morning in Freeman. The large pale dove is marked with a black crescent on the nape and is native to Eurasia and Northern Africa, and established later throughout North America, the Caribbean and parts of Central America, according to the Merlin app, which identifies the sounds of birds. Merlin notes the sound of an Eurasian Collared-Dove as “woop-WOOO!-woop.”
