PHOTO OF THE DAY: TOWERING ABOVE

The bell tower at the Salem (South)  Mennonite Church — a signature element of the church that was built in 1967 that survived the fire of 1985 — stands above the trees on a recent summer morning. The church, which is located four miles east and two miles south, will host at afternoon even this coming Sunday, July 27. Here’s what’s to come.

SPECIAL EVENTS PLANNED AT SALEM CHURCHES THIS SUNDAY

The Freeman community is invited to an informal time of sharing with President David Boshart of Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary at Salem (South) Mennonite Church, 28103 443rd Ave, Freeman. The open house will take place Sunday, July 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. Refreshments will be served, and a brief update will be shared about the latest developments at AMBS from Dr Boshart.

In addition to the afternoon open house, the public is welcome to hear a message from Rev. Randy Detweiler, Development Associate at AMBS, on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., at Salem-Zion (North) Mennonite Church. Reverend Detweiler will speak on the Reconciling Mission of God.
