PHOTO OF THE DAY: LEGION FIELD

This image from Google Earth shows Legion Field located on the north edge of Milbank — a brand-new ballpark that opened this year (note the unique layout of the outfield fence). It will be home to the Class B American Junior Legion State Tournament that begins Friday morning and concludes on Sunday — one week after it played host to the American Senior Legion State Tournament.

Scotland/Menno/Freeman/Canistota Post 152 is among the eight teams who earned a spot in the field, and the 79ers will face Sioux Falls Post 911 at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The winner of that game will face the winner of Clark Area Post 328 and Parkston Post 194 in the semifinals Friday afternoon, with the losers playing in an elimination game Saturday morning.

Other teams taking part in the state tournament are Madison Post 25, Dakota Valley 319, BellFourche Post 32, and Milbank Post 9.

All games will be broadcast and live-streamed on Big Stone Radio KDIO 94.5 FM – 1350 AM.
