Shortstop Avery Mellman pays a visit to starting pitcher Jackson Fiegen to help lighten the mood following a rocky start to Wednesday night’s state amateur game against Dell Rapids, when Fiegen walked the bases loaded. Fiegen and the Blacksox got out of the jam allowing just two runs, and he settled in after that to help give Freeman a 5-2 lead after three innings, and then a 10-5 lead late. But the Mudcats rallied, tying the game in the ninth inning and then winning it was a five-run 10th to advance to the quarterfinals.
