PHOTO OF THE DAY: TOAST OF THE TOWN

In a scene 50 years in the making, players who were part of the 1975 Freeman High School boys basketball championship team gather at the home of their coach, Ron Bennett, in Salem Saturday night and celebrate with a toast. Bennett, pictured in the blue shirt right of center, had been saving a bottle of champaign given to him after the Flyers won the Class B title just for this occasion. The gathering brought together Bennett, Bob Pidde, Kent Mueller, Keith Massey, David Jones, Brad Letcher and Kerry Koller and their spouses, including Karen Pidde and Mary Ann Preheim who were cheerleaders on the team.
