TRAPPERS BLOW PAST BURKE; PHOENIX WIN AGAIN; OTHER UPDATES
Scotland/Menno made a case for a spot in the Class 9AA postseason with an impressive 53-14 over Burke in Scotland while Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy survived a showdown against a ranked team in Alcester-Hudson, winning 38-19 on the road.
The Trappers move to 3-2 while the Cougars drop to 2-3. Scotland/Menno has scored 115 points in its last two games.
The Class 9AA No. 1 Phoenix, meanwhile, improve to 5-0 with their win over the Cubs; Alcester-Hudson is the third-ranked team in Class 9A and led that division in power points heading into Friday night’s game.
Schedule for Bridgewater-Emery Volleyball Tournament
Pairings have been released for the 10-team Bridgewater-Emery Volleyball Tournament set for Saturday, Sept. 19 in Emery. Freeman and Menno will both take part, along with the host school, Canistota, Howard, Centerville, Viborg-Hurley, Ethan, Sioux Falls Lutheran and Hanson. Action begins at 8 a.m. and all matches will be best of three.
