HOMECOMING IN FREEMAN, MENNO NEXT WEEK

Students from both Freeman Public and Menno are gearing up for what will be a big week to come at both schools — homecoming.

Coronation will formally kick things off Monday night, Oct. 6, with Freeman’s set to begin at 7 p.m. in the FHS gym and Menno’s to start at 7:30 p.m. in the city/school auditorium. Coronation will feature the crowing of king and queen.

Candidates at Freeman are Thor Aanenson, Luke Peters, Tate Sorensen, Vaida Ammann, Aubrey Gamble and Sam Fransen.

Standing for king and queen in Freeman are (above): Tate Sorensen, Luke Peters, Thor Aanenson, Vaida Ammann, Sam Fransen and Aubrey Gamble.

Candidates at Menno are Keyen Fischer, Brayden Kludt, Brockton Kocourek, Lexie McNinch, Ella Rempfer and Madison Schaeffer.

This year’s royalty candidates in Menno are, for king: Brayden Kludt, Brockton Kocourek and Keyen Fischer; and, for queen: Madison Schaeffer, Ella Rempfer and Lexie McNinch.

Friday will include a parade in both communities. Freeman’s parade, themed “Movies,” will begin at 1 p.m. while Menno’s will start at 12:30 p.m. Menno’s homecoming is centered around the theme, “Game On.”

Friday night football will feature the No. 1 and undefeated Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Phoenix hosting winless Irene-Wakonda, while the 3-2 Scotland/Menno Trappers will host Class B No. 2 Avon; the Pirates are 5-0.

Both games start at 7 p.m.
