PHOTO OF THE DAY: THROWBACK THURSDAY
This is one of the oldest photos showing the earliest days of Freeman. Taken in 1880, it was shot looking to the north on what was an infant Main Street. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul Railroad Company had just made Freeman a stop on its expanded line — you can see the train moving through in the background — and businesses and homes were beginning to pop up on the prairie. Note also the interest in the man with the bicycle — a rarity in those days.
