THE COURIER 

The Courier serves the communities of Freeman and Menno and is published by Second Century Publishing, Inc. The Courier was founded in 1901 and, since July of 2019, has been continuing the tradition of the Hutchinson Herald by serving the Menno and Olivet communities.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

This is a condensed online version of The Courier. Subscribers can login using the name on the subscription and the five-digit code on their mailing label. For a digital version of the full paper, click here. The same login information applies.

The online edition is published every Wednesday afternoon, with the printed copies distrubted on Thursday.

All subscriptions come due January 1 of every year. Subscriptions starting after that are available at a pro-rated price.

ADVERTISING

The Courier offers a wide range of advertising options through its three publications.

In addition to The Courier, Second Century Publishing, Inc. includes:

The Dakota Action Rocket, which is a supplement to The Courier and 18 other weeklies in southcentral and southeastern South Dakota;

The Area Wide Connection, which is mailed to boxholders and rural routes in a 25-mile radius of Freeman, with a distribution of about 6,700.

NEWS

The Courier welcomes news of interest to people with ties to the Freeman and Menno communities and encourages submitted news relevant to the well-being and interest of those communities.

Weddings, obituaries and other milestone announcements are printed free of charge provided they are submitted within 90 days after the wedding or funeral.

The deadline for news items is Monday noon for publication that same week.

Letters to the editor are welcome and must be signed; letters longer than 350 words are subject to being edited for length. Please include a phone number for verification.
