The city of Freeman voted 6-0 to pass an emergency resolution that includes the closure of all city restaurants and bars to on-site consumption, although it does not prohibit those businesses from providing take-out and delivery or curbside and drive-thru service. The order also orders the closure of all public recreational facilities in the city of Freeman. It will go into effect at 5 p.m. Friday, March 27.
The action came in special session via teleconference Thursday, March 26 to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic. The resolution also states that “Any business continuing to operate in order to provide off-site service should implement procedures to ensure social distancing and operate in compliance with federal and state health guidance in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
The order does not apply to grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, drug stores or “any emergency facilities necessary for the response to the current public health emergency or any other community emergency disaster.”
