Elaine Tschetter

Elaine (Ensz) Tschetter, 85, of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Nov. 19, 2018 at Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home. 

A funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 26 at Heritage Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Elaine was born on May 20, 1933 in Dolton, S.D., the fifth child of John and Mamie Ensz. She met her future husband, Wesley Tschetter, at Sunday school when they were seven years old. Wes and Elaine were united in marriage on June 16, 1957 and lived together for 61 years until her death. 

She is survived by her husband, Wesley, and four children: two daughters, Charis (David) Bacheller, Champaign, Ill. and Jill (Max)Whitley, and two sons, Jeffrey (Esther Anne) and Chez (Nichole), all from Sioux Falls. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Martha Beckman of Freeman, S.D., and Alice Burling of Aurora, Neb. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings. 

Elaine was a lifelong member of Linwood Wesleyan Church in Sioux Falls and served in various leadership roles, most notably Youth Group Director and later College and Career Director. Along with her husband Wes, she became involved in Stonecroft Ministries and Christian Women’s Club speaking at marriage seminars and workshops. Elaine worked tirelessly for her church, family and many friends, leaving us with many beautiful and inspiring memories.
