Marian (Regier) (Doerksen) Brundage, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Oakview Terrace Nursing Home in Freeman, S.D. She was a lovable and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved baking, music, quilting and spending time with family and friends.

Marian was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Henderson, Neb. to P.A. Regier and Marie (Huebert) Regier. When she was still an infant, her family moved to Madrid, Neb. Marian completed her schooling at Freeman Academy and Jr. College in Freeman. After obtaining her teaching degree, she married the neighbor boy, Harold Doerksen, on Dec. 27, 1951, and they settled near Madrid on the Doerksen farm. They had five children, one dying in infancy.

The family moved to Camp Verde, Ariz. in 1965 where Harold built houses and continued to farm. Marian was a homemaker and piano teacher. She and Harold loved the Lord and faithfully served in several churches over the years. Marian played piano for countless music programs, weddings and funerals. Tragically, on May 31, 1973, Harold passed away after being struck by lightning while constructing their family home.

On June 7, 1974, Marian married David Brundage who did the brickwork on many of Harold’s houses. They spent 30 years together in Camp Verde, enjoying her two sons and their families and many friends. In 2004, Dave passed away after a short battle with cancer. Marian continued to reside in Camp Verde until August of 2017 when she moved to Freeman to be close to her two daughters.

Marian is survived by her children: Jerry (Sharon) Doerksen of Strawberry, Ariz., Gwen (Stan) Ortman, of Freeman, Wayne (Jeanette) Doerksen of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Twila (Doug) Dubs of Freeman; step-daughter Cathy (Don) (Brundage) Davis of Des Moines, Wash.; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Preheim of Freeman and a brother and sister-in-law, Ivan and Ann (Preheim) Regier, of Grant, Neb.

Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, Wendell Lee; husbands Harold Doerksen and David Brundage; step-daughter Julie Hess; brother Carl Regier; brother and sister-in-law Pete and Rachel Regier; brother and sister-in-law Herman and Sarah Regier; and brother-in-law Curt Preheim.

A service was held Jan. 6 at the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church.
