A facelift inside the Freeman High School gym was the main topic of discussion as the Freeman Public School Board met in regular session Monday night, Feb. 10. Superintendent Kevin Kunz recommended the district use capital outlay funds to strip, sand and repaint the basketball/volleyball court, and also replace the bleachers that were installed with the gym was built in 1993. The board agreed to re-do the basketball court, but tabled a decision on the bleachers while they await public input. The cost of the court makeover is $28,790; the new bleachers would cost $86,666 for labor and materials, plus an additional $7,930 to remove the old ones. Like the floor, the bleacher project would be paid for using capital outlay funds, of with about $360,000 are availalbe this fiscal year, with another $800,000 to come available starting in July.
