PHOTO OF THE DAY: THE EARLY 80s

This photo from 1982 shows a portion of Freeman's Main Street, including the familiar Merchants State Bank clock that still stands. The building next to it, today home to Jamboree Foods, was then the Village Toggary — a clothing store. Across the street stood, from left, Kleinsasser Drug (today State Farm Insurance), a bakery (today Strasser Law), Laber's Lockers (today a landscaped empty lot) and, on the corner, Dale's Shoes (today Vintage Vault Floral). Note the telephone booth between Laber's and Dale's Shoes and the gas pumps that were part of the Huber Motors service station (today Black Widow Customs).
