This is what the newly-installed bump outs look like on Freeman's Main Street, with decorations like this on either side of the street and a crosswalk in the middle. Volunteers with the Healthy Hometown Committee spend Sunday evening putting together the temporary bump outs, which the city gave approval for at its Sept. 23 meeting. The bump outs are designed to slow traffic, provide clear access to pedestirians crossing the street and add a decorative element to the downtown business district. They were made possible thanks to approval from the Main Street businesses located in the 300 block of Main Street and donations from businesses and schools. The Healty Hometown Committee works in partnership with Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
