It’s possible this van, part of Freeman Community Transit, could eventually be at home right here. Monday night the Freeman City Council agreed to donate the city-owned property (directly north of Freeman City Hall) as part of a grant application for a brand new bus garage to be built on this site. Brenda Schweitzer, who heads the Brookings Area Transportation Authority (BATA) and which provides administrative services for FCT, shared details about the grant at the Feb. 24 council meeting. This is just one of the stories you’ll find in this week's Courier. Incidentally, this issue also features a column about the local bus program from Carol Eisenbeis, Freeman's development and marketing coordinator.
