Beau Miller, a graduating senior from Freeman Academy, makes his way across the Pioneer Hall auditorium as part of the commencement processional Saturday night, May 16. Miller was one of eight students from FA who graduated in a ceremony unlike any other before; commencement was open to immediate family members only and moved from the scheduled outdoor location south of Pioneer Hall inside because of the weather. Social distancing was practiced and most who attended wore masks.
Menno High School held its graduation on Saturday afternoon inside the school’s gymnasium. Family members who attended were seated on the bleachers at an appropriate distance and graduates sat in chairs on the floor following social distancing guidelines.
Freeman Public will hold its commencement at the football field at 2 p.m. today. It is for extended family members only; a parade through town will follow and a replay of the ceremony will be shown at the school’s parking lot at 9 p.m. tonight.
