GOP leadership in the South Dakota Legislature meets with journalists at a press conference Thursday morning, Jan. 30 hosted by the South Dakota Newspaper Association as part of Newspaper Day in Pierre. Pictured are, from left, moderator John Hunter of the Madison Daily Leader; House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte/District 21; Sentae Majority Leader Kris Langer of Dell Rapids/District 25; and Senate Assistant Majority Leader Jim Bolin of Canton/District 16. Newspaper Day is an opportunity for journalists across the state to meet with lawmakers, ask them questions, hear their concerns and share their own. It has been a tradition in Pierre since the late 1970s. The day also includes a press conference with Democratic leadership, a luncheon with state senators and representatives and a press conference with Gov. Krisi Noem.
