This was the scene inside the instrumental room at Sterling Hall Saturday,  March 7, as the cast of "Matilda the Musical" joined the orchestra for a sitzprobe in preparation for the 2020 Schmeckfest musical. In opera and musical theater, a sitzprobe (German for seated rehearsal) is a rehearsal where the singers sing with the orchestra, focusing attention on integrating the two groups. It is typically the first rehearsal where the orchestra and singers rehearse together; that was the case Saturday afternoon as the musicians involved with "Matilda the Musical" worked through tempos and entrances in preparation for the production that will take the stage March 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. Included in the photo are Brett Eisenbeis, a rehearsal accompanist and member of the orchestra, in the foreground; and Anne Waltner, conductor of the orchestra.
