Scenes like these could be found across high school football fields Thursday night, Oct. 24 as the first round of the playoffs unfolded throughout South Dakota. This was taken in White River as Jones County/White River hosted Menno/Marion on what was a cool, crisp night. The Razorbacks fell behind 20-0 in the first half but drew as close as 21-28 in the third period, only to fall to the Wolverines 29-50. The other local game featured Canistota/Freeman hosting Oldham-Ramona/Rutland in Canistota; the Pride had no trouble, cruising to a 64-16 win to advance to the second round. The playoffs were reseeded following the first round and Canistota/Freeman is the No. 3 seed going forward; it will host No. 6 Wall in Freeman next Thursday, Oct. 31; a game time was not set as of Friday morning. Britton-Hecla is the No. 1 seed and Sully Buttes is No. 2.
