The wet weather, coupled with the construction of a new backstop at Merchants State Bank Field, has made for an uneven start to the season for the Freeman Blacksox. The local town team's first two home games, scheduled for May 6 and May 13, couldn't be played in Freeman because work on the backstop — which includes both a stone base and new net — wasn't finished. And Freeman's home scheduled game against Lennox on Tuesday, May 15, is postponed, as well. Beyond that, the Blacksox's next home game is scheduled for Sunday, May 27. That is expected to go on as planned.
