FLYERS WIN; BEARCATS, WOLVES FALL
The Freeman High School girls had no trouble with Irene-Wakonda in Irene Tuesday night, Aug. 29, winning in straight sets 25-20, 25-14, 25-19. The Flyers improved to 3-2 while Irene-Wakonda dropped to 0-6. Ella Waltner, Ashlin Jacobsen, Zenovia Butler and Emily Mendel led the attack at the net with 9, 8, 6 and 4 kills, respectively, and Vaida Ammann and Cami Fransen split the set assist responsibilities with 13 and 11, respectively. 2023 CROSS-COUNTRY SEASON UP AND RUNNING
Thirty-four runners from three area schools — 20 from Freeman Academy and Freeman Public and 14 from Menno — have embarked on the 2023 cross-country season. While practices have been taking place for a number of weeks, competition began last Friday, Aug. 25 with the Beresford Invitational and continued with Freeman Academy/Marion and Freeman Public running at the McCook Central/Montrose Invitational on Tuesday.
