Darrell A. Edelman, age 84 of Menno, S.D., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center.  A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 26 at Grace Lutheran Church, Menno, with Rev. Charles Stanga officiating. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152 and the SDANGHG. 

Bernice Schoenfish, age 96 of Menno, S.D., passed away Monday, September 19, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, S.D. A funeral service was held Friday, September 23 at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno, with the Rev. Charles Stanga officiating. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery. 

Marcine Schoenfish, age 79, of Menno, S.D., died on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. A funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 24 at Grace Lutheran Church in Menno with Rev. Michael Hecht and Rev. Charles Stanga officiating. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery. Pallbearers were her seven grandchildren: Ethan, Devan, Kaitlyn, and Hayden Verba, Dylan Lammers, Lauren and Brooks Schoenfish.

Ranae K. Erickson, 52, of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at Ava's House in Sioux Falls. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Trinity Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. 

Marlene Jean Hofer Schultz was born on Sept. 9, 1937. Her soul left this world on Aug. 23, 2022. She was the daughter of long-time Freeman, S.D. residents Butch and Marianne Hofer. She spent her childhood in Freeman where she dreamed of becoming a nurse.

A husband, father, a grandfather too; this is the legacy we have from you. Bryan Roth, 59, of Estelline, S.D., passed away Sept. 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by family after courageously battling cancer for 10-plus years. A funeral service was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at Christ Lutheran Church in Salem, S.D.

Darwin Schoenwald, 70 of Marion, S.D., passed away on Sept. 3, 2022 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion.

Dorothy Preheim, 82, of Freeman, S.D., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Prairie Arboretum on the campus of Freeman Academy. 

Evelyn Rae Johnson was born to Stefanie and Taylor Johnson on July 27, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. She weighed only 11.3 oz., but was precious and perfect in every way. Everyone loved her beautiful button nose, tiny fingers and toes and soft blond hair. She amazed her family, the doctors, and nurses every day with her strength and feisty personality. She hated diaper changes and getting her temperature checked but she loved her pacifier, holding hands and touches from Mom and Dad.

Marriette Schultz, 85, of Bridgewater, S.D., passed away on Aug. 18, 2022 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. A visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the United Methodist Church of Alexandria, S.D., from 5 to 7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will take place on Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Green Hill Cemetery of Alexandria.
