Gary Catron

Gary Ray Catron died peacefully at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, S.D. on March 15, 2018 at the age of 67 of Lewy Body Dementia as well as Parkinston’s Disease.

Gary was born June 9, 1950 in Mt. Vernon, Ill. to Ray and Frances Catron. He will be remembered as a kind, funny, generous and compassionate man.

Gary was accomplished at many things. He loved history and mythology. He was very knowledgeable on both subjects. He loved reading, family and animals. At one point he owned his own stables where he also boarded horses. He had Quarter Horses and Tennessee Walkers. His favorite horse was a Tennessee Walker named Smokey. At one time he was privileged to help deliver twin foals in his stables.

Gary is survived by his sister Linda Kineer, Freeman, S.D. formerly of Bluford, Ill. He is survived by his girlfriend Kathy Wade, Freeman and her family as well. He also has many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Frances Catron.

A service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Dougherty Hospice House at 4509 Prince of Peace Place, Sioux Falls, SD 57103. Condolences can be sent to 613 S. Cherry St., Freeman, SD 57029.
