EDITORIAL: School board: replace those bleachers

Our opinion: The Freeman Public School board will meet in special session Monday night, Feb. 24 to discuss the issue. For the following reasons, the board should vote to replace the junior-senior high school gym bleachers.

  • This is the west side of the junior-senior high school gym, which was dedicated in December of 1992. The bleachers are structurally sound, but have become outdated in the almost 30 years since they were installed. And the motors on the other side are going out.

There are three good reasons why the Freeman Public School Board should vote to approve the purchase and installation of new bleachers for the not-so-new-anymore Freeman Junior-Senior High School gym, which was discussed at the school board’s Feb. 10 meeting: 1. The money is there. 2. No other major improvement to the physical plant is anywhere on the horizon. 3. 28 years and counting. So, let’s break it down.
