Autumn Huntimer, who is originally from Harrisburg and has been a Freeman resident for the past five years, stands in the newly refurbished space above the former Kairos and Delicious Flavor building on Main Street that will, starting next week, become a preschool. Huntimer, who has a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential and has worked in a preschool setting the past eight years, is opening Dreamations Preschool for children ages 3, 4 and 5, as well as an afterschool program.
“This is my dream — to open something in Freeman,” said the 26-year-old.
The opportunity arose through Huntimer’s relationship with Amy Beck, who manages and co-owns Doc’s Bar one building to the north and has been renovating the former Kairos building for a coffee shop/bakery that is now open as Doc's Mess Hall. As part of that renovation, Beck has been turning the second floor into an event space on nights and weekends.
Dreamations Preschool will serve 3-year-olds Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., 4-year-olds on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and 5-year-olds Mondays through Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Enrollment for each class will be capped at 20.
The after school program is for ages 5 to 12 and runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
An open house is planned for this Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.
