Marilyn Wolverton: 1937-2020
Marilyn (Mendel) Wolverton died Sept. 23, 2020, at Evergreen, Colo. surrounded by her family. There will be a memorial service celebrating her life at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 at Bethel Church, Yale, S.D. Marilyn June (Mendel) Wolverton was born June 22, 1937 to Joseph David Mendel and Elizabeth Viola (Hofer) Mendel in Faulkton, S.D. In 1942 the family moved to a farm south of Doland, S.D. Marilyn graduated from Doland High School in 1955 and in 1959 she graduated from Wheaton College in Chicago with a degree in Education. She then taught first grade in Doland for two years.

Kevin Waltner visits with other guests at the 2020 Menno Pioneer Power Show late Saturday morning, Sept. 26 — the first day of the two-day event that every year draws several thousand to the Menno community. The Power Show includes featured vintage tractors, cars and steam engines, a host of vendors and exhibitors, a flea market, demonstrations, food, activities for children and more, all taking place on the sprawling Pioneer Acres on the north side of Menno.

Myron Schaffer: 1934-2020
Myron Leroy Schaffer was born Nov. 28, 1934 to Richard and Alvina (Geigle) Schaffer. He was the second of 10 children. Myron married Sharlene (Sunderland) on Sept. 19, 1964 and worked as a meat cutter and also owned a grocery store. Myron enjoyed bowling, softball and horseshoes in his younger years. Myron was a member of the US Army; after he completed his training, Myron spent four years of duty in Germany as a combat engineer. After retirement Myron spent time at the Senior Citizens Center playing cards. He was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing.
