School boards from Marion (left), Freeman Public (center) and Freeman Academy met jointly Thursday night, April 9 to discuss a possible sports cooperative in basketball, cross-country, golf, track and volleyball. The 90-minute meeting included public comment and comments from school officials and a vote from all three boards; Marion and Freeman Academy voted in favor the agreement on the table — to form a cooperative beginning the in the fall of 2021 — while Freeman Public voted 3-2 against it. Seven-year-old McKoen Dockendorf and her 4-year-old sister, Leighton, enjoy a beautiful Monday morning on the swing at Lions Park in Freeman. Short sleeves, shorts and general outdoor activity have been commonplace across the region in recent days as above-average temperatures have energized men, women and children of all ages. Highs reached into the 80s on both Saturday and Sunday and are expected to again today before a cool down — and chance of rain — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. McKoen and Leighton are the daughters of Lee and Ashton Dockendorf of rural Bridgewater.
