After beginning her career in Bloomfield, Nebr., Smidt began her career at Menno in 1978 working as a music teacher, substitute teacher, librarian and Spanish instructor.

JEREMY WALTNER  - PUBLISHER Kory Foss believes that, when it comes to the wide world of sports, it doesn’t get any better than baseball — a game he calls the “greatest in the world.” It’s no surprise, then, that when Foss arrived in Menno to take over as preK-8 principal and head boys basketball coach last year, one of his first orders of business was working on getting high school baseball started.

There's a definite chill in the air thanks to a stiff northwest wind that ushered in the work week on Monday, marking a change in the weather. Whereas the weekend was sunny and mild, cooler temperatures — and a chance of rain — are expected this week.

A sunny and mild weekend has made it a good one to be outdoors for human and creature alike, but a breezy cool down is on the way to start the workweek.
