These signs outside Rural Medical Clinics in Freeman instruct visitors what to do amidst continuing precautions about the spread of COVID-19. Numbers continue their upward tick with local public schools dealing with the crisis on a constantly changing basis. Freeman Public is offering both in-person and remote instruction, with those choosing to come to school doing so on a rotation basis. Eight students and a half-dozen staff members have tested positive for COVID in the last 10 days, with additional confirmed cases coming Monday.

Judy Schrag clears snow from her front steps Wednesday morning, Nov. 11 following Tuesday's all-day snow that amount to around six inches in Freeman. It wasn't the first snowfall of the fall but the biggest — and heaviest — with high moisture making it hard to push. Even though it's cold, some melting has taken place thanks to the power of the sun and with highs returning to the 40s later this week, it would be gone sometime this weekend. 

The Freeman High School girls volleyball team's first seven jumps onto the court after being introduced prior to last week's Region 5B match against Gayville-Volin. The Flyers are in action again tonight when they travel to Chester to face Chester Area in the SoDak 16. The match starts at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the state tournament in Huron next week. Freeman reportedly received 1.70 of moisture, and cold temperatures and stiff breeze truly make it feel like fall. It also puts an end to what was a mild, albeit windy, weekend.
