Vivian I. Gering, 93, was born Oct. 1, 1927 to Elias and Lillie (Waltner) Brockmueller in Freeman, S.D. and died June 25, 2021 at Arbor Lakes Senior Liv­ing, Maple Grove, Minn. The oldest of four, Vivian worked with her dad cultivating fields and making hay with horses. Vivian graduated from Freeman Jr. College (1950), Bethel College (Kan., 1952), and SDSU (master’s in counseling, 1970).

Virgil Munkvold, 73, of Viborg, S.D., passed away on June 20 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church of rural Irene. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 25 at Walter Funeral Home in Freeman. Virgil is survived by his wife Pat of Viborg; son Marcus (Stephanie) Munkvold of Elk Point, S.D.; daughters Vicki (Mike) Dvorak of Scotland, S.D.

William “Bill” Haar, 73 of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Wednesday, June 9. Services are pending.

Mary Wollman Hofer, 100, of Torrington, Wyo. and formerly of Yankton, S.D., passed away on June 19 in Torrington under Hospice Care. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 10th at 11 am at Salem MB Church of Bridgewater.    

Joe Danny Hofer passed away at his home on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Joe Danny was born on March 21, 1937, in rural Bridgewater, S.D. as the sixth of 10 children to Paul K. and Margaret (Gross) Hofer. His family later moved to Spencer, S.D. when he was in the fourth grade.

Milo J. Hauck, age 81 of Menno, S.D., passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, S.D. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 14 at Salem Reformed Church, Menno, with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating. A private family burial will be in the Menno Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Rames-Bender American Legion Post # 152. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 13 at Salem Reformed Church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

William Tyler, 64, of Freeman, S.D., passed away on June 8 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman. A service will be held on Monday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Walter Funeral Home in Freeman. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.    

Alvaro (Doc Al) Tieszen passed away peacefully early in the morning on March 17, 2021. He was 92 years of age. A committal service will be in the Tieszen Cemetery (from Marion corner 4 miles west on Highway 44 and 1.5 miles north on 443rd) at 1 p.m.

Ruth Thomas, 87, died of natural causes at her Plymouth, Ind. residence on Saturday May 29, 2021. Ruth was born in Magstadt, Germany on July 31, 1933 and became a U.S. citizen after her parents immigrated to the United States when she was a child. She accepted the Lord when she was 12 years old. Ruth graduated from Summerville High School, Summerville, N.J., in 1951 and attended Philadelphia College of the Bible. On June 18, 1955 in Calvary Baptist Church of Flemington, N.J., she was united in marriage to Kenneth Byron Thomas.

Ronald Aisenbrey died of complications of pneumonia at his home in Jacksonville, Fla. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at the age of 76. Ron was born to Arthur C and Emma (Gran) Aisenbrey on May 3, 1945 in rural Menno, Hutchinson County, S.D. He was baptized by Rev. Erich Kaempchen at Salem Reformed Church in Menno July 1, 1945. He was confirmed at Salem Reformed Church by Rev. Erich Kaempchen June 21, 1959.
